On June 16, 2013, a threatening thunderstorm moved in around the Liberty City area, especially Alderney. It wasn't until about 3:20 PM that it got very dangerous. Winds exceeding 90 miles an hour were reported. At 3:43 PM, a tornado touched down in Alderney. It was a relatively strong tornado, destroying three homes and severely damaging 12 others. There were 3 deaths, and about 30 reported injuries, with around 12 severe. The entire city was put under a state of emergency until June 21, when the city was opened back up and all damage and debris had been cleared up.
