Police and investigators released days later that the cause of the explosion was the ammonium nitrate stored at the facility. The cause of the fire that resulted in the explosion is still undetermined.
A paramedic was arrested after having stored bomb-making materials on Friday, May 10. Bryce Reed was arrested for having stored bomb-making material, but has denied having any link to the explosion. Rumors also surfaced that a missle was fired by a helicopter that was reported to have been flying near the plant when it exploded. The helicopter reportedly crashed as a result of the explosion, but whether or not the helicopter had anything to do with the explosion is still unknown.
